Creative Thinking Techniques For Those Who Want To Be Prepared

Sometimes, you perceive yourself as someone who would not know creativity even if it knocked you on the head with a sledgehammer. And sometimes, you just come to the realization that you and creativity thinking don't mix. It is like oil and water for you and creativity, or so you think.

Creative thinking techniques can be used to develop this skill and use it effortlessly in life situations. If you imagine feeling the wrath of Zeus every time you need to be creative, do not put a lid on it. All you need is a technique, a creativity technique.

Creativity makes your world more manageable. Think of creative thinking techniques as a giant tool box, with all you might ever need to build your own house. It has lots tools to choose from, but you have to pick the right one.

The first technique is the basic model. With this model, you have to think of what it is that really hinders your creativity, and jot it down in non-technical terms. Show what you wrote to people who have never experienced that kind of problem and ask them for ideas and suggestions. You can also recommend they consider it for a few days.

Once they provide some input, take down any thoughts and ideas they recommend as the "real" problem and any solutions they offer. It is essential that what they expect of your ability to utilize their ideas are put in perspective. You can develop or re-interpret the ideas they gave you to make them more workable for you. You should not dismiss the notion that the idea might be technically naïve, but still, you can work on it to make it more realistic for your situation.

But, of course, if you use ideas of other people, you cannot just use them just like that. You have to give feedback to whoever helped you to show them that what they shared is valued, appreciated and that you're putting it to use. If your helper receives a positive response of how his or her ideas were put to good use, he or she will be very glad and will accommodate your needs again when you employ this creative thinking technique.

Another creativity technique is the face-to-face networking model. This technique can only  work if you are sure that your relationship with the one who helps you is built on trust. For instance, when your confidant offers ideas that are somewhat naïve, you still use these ideas to your advantage and not dismiss them immediately.

However, when worse comes to worse, some ideas can sometimes require additional discussion. You just start a conversation at an informal face-to-face meeting.

If you decide to use this personal approach, you must use your best listening skills so that your helper's enthusiasm and interest are maintained. Show him or her whatever it is they saying is being considered and well-thought of all the time, because if you do not do so, he or she will forget about offering creative ideas for you and you'll find yourself struggling with creativity once again.

Basically, you do not have to carry the burden of creativity on your shoulders. There are lots of creativity thinking techniques available. You'll need to do the research to find the ones that work best for you.
